As therapists, we don’t have all the answers.
When you were in graduate school or your Ph.D. program, there were always so many other students to theorize with and discuss case conceptualization. During your supervision, there was also the comfort of your supervision sessions. In your group practice, you had many opportunities to consult with other therapists, especially for complex cases.
Being in solo private practice can be isolating and lonely sometimes, even if you have been in the field of therapy for a long, long time.
Sometimes, specific clients, although even being “an ideal client,” may bring something up that may cause us to react in a way that is not in the client’s best interest. Their comment may tug at our heartstrings or cause us to be annoyed or irritated. Their concern may create an urgency in us to help them feel better – Right NOW. In some more extreme cases, you may even feel tempted to break an ethical boundary to help them.
Somehow, despite all of your years of expertise and clinical judgment, this therapeutic relationship is extremely challenging. But you want to help, and you know you can help.
Providing help is where I come into the picture.
It can always help to have another set of ears and another heart hearing a complex case.
In my consultation sessions, you will get undivided time to speak about your more challenging cases you are struggling with.
There is also a chance to optimize your mindset related to being a solo entrepreneur or any other feelings associated with being in the healing field.
We will then brainstorm and collaborate to think about strategies, ways of being, and ways of thinking in a trauma-informed, holistic way that can help shift your work with your client. This brainstorming is like having a supervision session, but you don’t NEED supervision; you would like an extra pair of clinical ears to get additional direction on this more complicated, complex case.
Suppose you don’t need consultation on a hard case. In that case, I am also passionate about helping other therapists with their mindset to clear up any thinking or emotional blockages, improve their business, or feel genuinely at ease as a therapist.
